Stitches

This personal sketch was done for fun and to play with some typography and collaging of character related elements in the summer of 2025. I wanted it to in a way feel like you were looking into a hot topic or Spencers. Whilst also staying conscious of what would fit the pre-established character, but freshening up her style to not be just a recolor of someone else's outfit. Rather giving her, Stitches an individual revamp that is closer resonant to modern subculture styling trends. That which also is intended to match her character, I wanted something very sweet but with some edge to it. Alternative subcultures such as Scene, Twee, Grunge, and Lolita are ones that are quite ingrained with and built on peronalized, handmade, and altered clothing elements. And for me as someone who is very familiar with subcultures and how they relate to people in my own experience and research especially with the original doll it's easy to see how people inclined or interested in those subcultures could really adopt and be fond of this doll. So I deliberately designed this two have a similar feeling as a love letter to those subcultures. Visually alike the opening up of your moms old excess fabric scrap and sewing box. The finding something fun, sparkly, but also dingy a little bit, and a feeling of something handmade but made with love that is very genuine and human.
